The Yarmouth Clam Festival has become one of Maine's largest summer festivals. This annual event, featuring some of Maine's tastiest seafood and entertainment, attracts about 100,000 guests to Yarmouth village in the course of a three-day weekend.
While the Clam Festival has grown more visible and inviting to the world beyond the Yarmouth area, it remains at its core a perennial bonding experience for most of Yarmouth's 8,000 residents. For some, the experience provides a sense of tradition and seasonal timekeeping; for others, a centerpiece for homecoming gatherings; and for others, a reconnection with the pleasure of basic hometown charm.
The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce hosts the event and retained Y!MG to manage public and media relations from 2007 to 2010.
Our primary objective was to highlight and promote the festival's mission of providing an opportunity for
Yarmouth-based non-profit organizations to raise most of the funds they need to support
programs throughout the year.
In 2010, the festival distributed over $300,000 to 25 participating non-profit organizations — a record infusion of funds that directly benefitted the community. |
